Ivy's refusal was an unexpected outcome for Irene; she has grown a lot more different than she was before. Not to mention Ivy's change of attitude towards her.
"Oh, before I forget, congratulations. I wish you a happy married life in advance," Ivy said, keeping a straight face.
Irene smirked, "Thank you," leaving disappointed as she signaled someone seated at the far end of the restaurant with a nod.
The person understood and nodded in response.
Kate was patiently waiting in front of Irene's car; the expression on her friend's face told her things didn't work out.
