Judy’s POV The house was quiet when I returned home after having dinner at Gavin’s house. It was always quiet these days. The house felt so empty with my mother hiding away in her room, not a sound to be made. I put my coat on the hook and made my way upstairs. I paused outside of her bedroom door which was down the hall from my room. There was no light on, and I wasn’t even sure if she would be awake, but I needed to see her. I needed to make sure that she was alright. I grabbed the door handle and twisted it, pushing the door open gently. The door creaked as it moved, and I winced at how dark and smelly it was.
