Immerline looked at Naila, her emotions overwhelming her. Her words just made her realize that she is indeed going to be on her own; that she is leaving the waters, her home.
Immerline’s eyes welled with tears for the first time. All the tears that dropped from her eyes magically turned to pearls that Naila caught with her hand.
‘Don’t waste your precious tears, child,’ she told her, wiping her cheeks.
Naila then turned to her daughter, and she put the pearls she caught into Oona’s hand. Oona held onto the pearls like her life depended on it. Naila turned to Immerline again.
