Maksim’s POV
I’m so thankful I found my mate, or things would have ended badly for our team. We’ve worked for the Council before, helping them on many occasions. They had respect and appreciation for us, but Melina was right. If we killed Trevor, all that goodwill would have been gone instantly. They would consider it to be his foot slipping, which didn’t deserve the death penalty in their opinion. They were all former Alphas, and half allowed their foot to slip.
As much as I hated allowing him to live after hurting my sister so badly. I have to admit, he will be punished more for having to keep Heidi around. He deserved death; he sent his men out to kill my sister. I think the Council glossed over that fact. They felt that since she looked fine now, what happened to her was
