Jake Stella had passed out in my arms as we ran back to my truck. By the time we got there, Davina and Drake were lying on the pavement, covered in their own blood. Dorian was not holding back, but it seemed as if Drake was holding his own for the most part. There was something about him that I didn’t fully trust, but I had to admit that he was risking his life to save Stella, and that was good enough for me. Savannah had us dunk down behind the same tree as before to wait it out. Savannah was no fighter, and I couldn’t fight with Stella unconscious in my arms. I was partially afraid that if I put her down long enough to fight off Dorian, that somehow, she would be taken from me again.
