"Oh!" Miranda rubbed her sleepy eyes, wishing she could have more wonderful dreams. However, as her big brown eyes fell on the wall clock in her room, she gasped, "Oh my goodness! It's 10 AM."
It was Saturday, but Miranda knew that Lady Loretta often picked on her to make her tea and attend to other services.
Rushing out of bed without a care in the world, Miranda quickly ran out of her room, passing Juliet, who shook her head with disgust.
Juliet was two years older than Miranda. She was a single mother but had hidden this fact from the Luis family.
Juliet had gotten the opportunity to work in the Luis family home after being kicked out of her parents' home. Her parents were rich, but they disapproved of her pregnancy out of wedlock. She had a one-night encounter with a mysterious man, and although she believed she could identify him if she saw him again, five years had passed, and she hadn't encountered him.
He was a young guy then, and Juliet doubted he was over twenty. She didn't bother to search for him, knowing he wouldn't accept her. They were only having fun, and now she had to work as a maid to support her four-year-old son. Her son was with her parents, but they refused to sponsor her needs after she gave birth, telling her to work as an adult since she had indulged in adult pleasures. She was responsible for her son, the result of her foolishness.
Juliet was also fair-skinned and beautiful like Miranda, but she didn't like Miranda, perhaps because she liked the housemaster and wanted him to notice her too. Derrick was 25 years old, and Juliet was 24. She wished she were a little younger and not a single mother, then she might have tried her chances with him.
However, remembering her four-year-old son at home, Juliet left Miranda's room and walked to the kitchen to continue her work.

"Miranda, what happened with Melody last night? Did you fight with her?" Lady Loretta Luis sat on a pristine white couch in the living room, querying Miranda. She couldn't just drop the topic like Derrick had asked her to.
Lady Loretta had banned all fighting among her maids, knowing that jealousy could lead to serious conflicts. She didn't want a murder case in her mansion.
"I am sorry, Ma. Melody slapped me again after Master Derrick and his guests left us upstairs. She slapped me twice and hit my head, and I had to defend myself," Miranda said, her head lowered to the ground. She was not used to lying, which was why Lady Loretta trusted her.
"But you are aware that fighting is not allowed here. Why didn't you report Melody to the guards? They are there to ensure peace in the mansion. You should have told one of the guards to remove her. I did not like either your actions or Melody's actions last night. That behavior is never allowed here, do you understand?" Lady Loretta was annoyed.
Before Miranda could respond, they heard footsteps on the staircase. Turning to her right, Miranda spotted Derrick standing on the stairs.
Derrick wore a white shirt and black pants paired with black slippers. It was Saturday, and he wasn't going to the office.
"Mother, what's going on here again?" Derrick pretended not to notice Miranda.
Seeing Miranda kneeling before his mother with her head bowed and her blonde hair scattered, Derrick remembered the previous night when he had seen her nàked. He wanted her but quickly pushed the thoughts away.
"Good morning, Son. It's about Miranda. I know you are not familiar with any of my maids, but it troubled me that she got into a fight last night. If this matter wasn't addressed, the other maids might start fighting too," Lady Loretta explained. The other maids in the living room greeted Derrick, "Good morning, Sir."
"Alright. We should fire her. A maid shouldn't cause us stress," Derrick said, not wanting to reveal his true feelings. But Miranda quickly pleaded, "Please, Ma. I am sorry. I promise not to fight here again. I don't have anywhere to go, and I really need this job to survive."
Derrick's eyes darkened as Miranda pleaded with his mother in her soft, feminine voice. He knew his mother would be swayed by her charm.
Derrick didn't want to report what Miranda had done to him the previous night, as he had slept late and missed his morning exercise.
Silence fell in the living room as the other maids waited for Miranda to be fired. They didn't like Miranda, who was very beautiful and often taunted them with her beauty, catwalking with pride and wearing seductive outfits since the maids had no uniform.
"Derrick. I would have considered firing Miranda as you suggested, but I like her. I enjoy her service, and how she speaks and carries out her duties. However, it surprises me that she was violent, as I never saw that side of her when I hired her. She was a bubbly girl eager to work, with her big, shining brown eyes."
Derrick frowned, his face turning stoic. He wanted to take a stroll outside and didn't want to think about Miranda again. If his mother liked Miranda, firing her would make her sad.
"So, what do you want to do with her now, Mom?" Derrick asked. "I don't like her service here and would prefer you send her away before she causes more damage."
"No, my son. It's good to have a forgiving heart. I had no issues with Miranda, and I won't allow a third party to come between me and my maids. They are all my children. I will spare the rod and correct her. Miranda," Lady Loretta's eyes fell back on Miranda.
"Let today be the last day you are reported for fighting in my home. If I get another report that you did something wrong or hurt anyone, you will use the exit gate. Is that understood?" Lady Loretta's eyes were stern.
Miranda nodded her head like an obedient puppy and replied, "Yes, Mother."
"Good. You may leave us. And why are you still in your nightgown? Did you forget about your services here, or are you just waking up now?" Lady Loretta's eyes scanned Miranda's body suspiciously.
"I am sorry, Ma. The cold kept me up last night, and I regretted my actions," Miranda said. Others might think she was referring to the incident with Melody, but she was thinking about Master Derrick.
Derrick's fist clenched. He couldn't believe Miranda would be bold enough to lie to his mother again.
*Why is she testing my patience and taking me for a fool from the previous night?* Derrick pondered.
"It's okay, then. You shouldn't make the same mistake twice. That would show that you have repented, so refrain from fighting or hurting anyone's feelings, okay?" Lady Loretta spoke in a calm demeanor as she lovingly looked at Miranda.
"Okay, Ma. Thank you for forgiving me," Miranda said.
"Yes. Go and prepare my breakfast. You should know how to do it best, and don't waste my time. I have been waiting for you to come out of your room, so I sent Juliet. Go now," Lady Loretta dismissed Miranda, her gaze shifting to look back at her son, who was silently strolling away, clearly displeased with her decision to forgive the maid.
