I watched Gigi's movement until she was completely out of sight. I lifted Maya and put her on my lap. I turned my head to the table where Mara sat, watching her talk endlessly with Tokyo.
"Mara?" I called to her. She didn't hear me, distracted by their discussion but Tokyo had his eyes on me and waved his fingers in front of her face. He noted in my direction, silently getting her to focus on me.
"Please come." I waved her over so she sat on the chair with me.
"Hey!" She called in her ever cheery voice, as though we were meeting for the first time tonight. "I didn't even notice Gigi left, where is she off to now?" She looked around the table in confusion.
