I stood frozen in the doorway, unable to tear my eyes away from the grisly sight before me. Caesar's body was a mangled mess, and the stench of death hung heavily in the air. A sob caught in my throat, and I stumbled backwards onto Kael’s chest. My mind was racing, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. A wave of nausea washed over me, and I doubled over, retching onto the floor. Kael tried to comfort me as tears streamed down my face. Then I stumbled out of the room, my mind in a fog.
