(Alexander) I leaned against my desk, staring at nothing, trying to shove the anger down. I clenched my fists, jaw tight. I hated that it got to me. I knew my mate. I knew her strength. But the doubt had still crept in, and that pissed me off even more. A knock sounded on the door and I knew that it was Selene without her saying anything because of her scent. I took a deep breath. “Come in.” She slipped inside, closing the door behind her.
