Time continued its strange staccato pull on Elise, by turns dragging her forward like a riptide and lapping gently at her feet with nothing more than faint wavelets. The ranger spent several weeks held in tense, rapt expectation before the storm finally struck, riling up waves that would surely have drowned her had she not been prepared for them.
