33. Ghosts and guilt

    Philip   I shouldn’t feel like this. Feel that guilty and frustrated. I did what was right, but why it felt everything but right. After Victoria left the room graciously, I followed her. At this moment, I didn’t care if the other alphas would spot us together. I just had to talk to her, to feel her in my arms. “Victoria,” I called, and she turned back. But she wasn’t the only one, Alpha Marcus’s glowing dark eyes were throwing daggers at me. She came in my direction, despite Marcus’s low growls of protest. Without thinking or saying anything, I took her hand and led her to one of the many meeting rooms of the castle. I wrapped her in my arms, as my chest vibrated with the raw desperation of a man that knew he was about to lose everything. It wasn’t Chaos this time, it was me.
