“Go child,” her voice faded as she fell backwards. I ducked down and tried to pull her up when I met with a terrifying sight. Her eyes were wide open, motionlessly staring at the skies. My hands trembled, a pulse of current running through my chest. I could tell there was no life in those eyes. Is she dead? My heart raced, my breath loud and rapid. “Mam,” I gathered courage to shake her. “Mam.” Her hand bounced to the ground like the bones in it have died. I crawled back, my eyes heavy with shock. The woman is dead. “Who’s there?” a voice echoed from afar with a flashlight pointed to my face. I raised my hand and blocked its rays from directly hitting my eyes.
