Ceasar's POV For a moment, she held her breath as the words hung between us, wrapping around her so she couldn't escape. Her lips parted, but nothing came out. The pulse in her throat fluttered violently, a giveaway she probably hated me for noticing. Her fingers clenched at her sides, the same hands that had pushed me a moment ago now trembling ever so slightly. I saw the flicker in her eyes, fury trying to mask the heat beneath it, the confusion of a body that didn't seem to understand it was supposed to resist. Jane took a small step back, as if distance might save her from wanting me, but it was already too late. My words had found her, crawling under her skin, settling deep.
