Werewolf On The Hunt

Camille at that moment was staring back at Elijah a little awkwardly as he looked back at her like he wanted to be inside her head. Doubtful. Her sinful thoughts were NOT going to be shared this soon. Sipping a hot chocolate as a crisp breeze blew by, she pulled her sweater tighter. “Do you want to go inside? Sit by the fire?” He asked immediately out of concern. To which she denied shaking her head as Camille admitted, “I love this kind of weather. I’m fine.” Smiling, Elijah wasn’t cold either and was somehow kept warm by the smile she blessed him with. Enjoying easy conversation, Elijah found Camille Thomas beautiful and bright as she talked to him about the fun things. Where she’d lived, what she liked to do, and favorite whatever’s. From flowers, to coffee type, Elijah tried to mentally write it all down. Every like and love of Camille’s he wanted to know it so he could spoil her with it. It would help her see him as her man that would provide those pleasures for the rest of their days. He couldn’t wait until she did. Elijah saw the walls up and didn’t push like a douche bag to find out why they were there. He was ready to do the work and get to know Camille slow for the benefit of their future and building the foundation smooth and solid. “So, what brought you to Heart Cove?” Camille looked at him for a moment and responded as she swirled her coffee, “Looking for a fresh start, a new place.” Chuckling, Elijah pointed out, “And you came from the states clearly all the way here?” Camille did not respond as a waitress came and sat her chocolate croissant down and then whispered, “I jumped on a plane not really knowing where I was going. Not that I recommend that but when I got here, I found me a place to stay and then it all just clicked from there.” And then she’d decided to stay permanently. Something Elijah was grateful for as he teased, “What an adventurous nature you have. I can’t wait to take you sky diving then.” Laughing at his poke, Camille waved him off, “Not happening boy, I’m not jumping out of a plane for no one. You crazy?” Laughing until he realized what she said, Elijah bit his bottom lip, “Man.” He corrected as her licking that full bottom lip made his blood rush south. She was eating her croissant when she focused back on him. “What?” He smiled wiping the side of her mouth that had a beautiful little smudge of chocolate on the side. “I haven’t been a boy since I was fifteen. I can show you if you want.” Eyes seducing Camille like they had in her dreams, Camille didn’t find them fair as she whispered, “No thanks. I’ll wait to see that for myself.” To which Elijah just casually surmised, “That’ll work beautiful.” Surprised he wasn’t put off by her shutting him down, Camille was trying to put Elijah in a box. It just wasn’t working as he continued to be different from what she was used to. Offering to walk her home like a gentleman, Camille was wondering what she was doing. She’d never thought she’d be the hand in the elbow kind of girl, being walked home like a lady. But here she was, flirting and charming Elijah back as she teased him about being too tall as he walked fast because of his long legs. “And I’m strong too.” Elijah flexed for her, “I’ll be throwing around somebody’s weight like she’s a rag doll if she keeps flirting with me.” Grin stretching up her face as he made her face feel warm with giddiness, it was as she took emotional inventory Camille realized then that for once? She wasn’t feeling one negative thing and hadn’t whenever Elijah was around her. Usually uncomfortable by now, mostly because no one had made her feel this comfortable ever, Camille was sure this was the part where it went wrong. Her past making her think she could only get the rotten, hence why she’d ran to another country to get away from her stalker. But Elijah was widely different, something proven as he held her hand and made sure to watch before they crossed the street. As he led her home he asked almost shyly, “Do you want to go to a movie with me this weekend?” And when she glanced up at him and saw the shy smile? Camille melted realizing she hadn’t run from Andrew. She’d run to have this. A new life with beautiful perks, beautiful friends, and a beautiful black man who stared at her like he wanted to devour her. It was all in her lap and while she was nervous, she was still confident in herself to answer, “Yes. I’d love to.” Which led to a dazzling smile as he took her phone and put his number in. Calling himself and promising to text her when he made it home, he had thirty minutes later making her smile. Brushing her teeth, Camille was nervous, but she texted him back instantly. The conversation from what they liked in movies to everything in general stretched out for hours, until they fell asleep, Camille was a teenager again. The texting leading up to Friday, the movie date was completely casual and yet comfortable. Having to not feel pressure to be someone she wasn’t, Camille wanted to fall into old habits. Having to pay for something to save the embarrassment of wadded, dirty bills spilled from pockets that wouldn’t not something she could handle. It was Elijah stopping her gently from reaching for her bag that he suddenly had his card out and paid in seconds. Kissing her head he teased, “Queens don’t pay.” Before handing her, her slushie and popcorn. Following him into the theater, the action movie had both stuck to the screen until the end and talked about it eagerly when they left. “Denzel is that goat.” She gushed making him nod eagerly in agreement, “He is! That movie was so damn good, he needs to do another ten of that series.” Laughing, Camille teased, “Agreed. Because if Vin Diesel can get twenty for his car movies, we should get ten more of unc handling business.” Elijah pulled her out of the theater and as the chilly night air hit her face, she sighed out before looking at him. Grinning as he held out his hand, Camille’s interlocked with his naturally as he pulled her along. Still finding everything being in walking distance practical but amusing in a small-town type of way, Camille only hated it on certain nights. Mostly when she wanted to have a little longer outside, or when she wanted to spend more time with Elijah holding her hand. Never having a boy or man hold her hand before, Camille felt childish to feel to be enamored with the simple affection. But since simple affection with no evil strings attached had been a unicorn for Camille to find, had her completely unprepared for Elijah Smoak. The usual red flags that would have been raised by now were non-existent in the man checking off boxes she hadn’t believed him capable. Camille managed to find herself looking forward to when they stepped out. From the movies to the diner, they ate grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup as they took turns on the juke box. Playing each other their favorites, Elijah was left captivated as Camille sang along to Mariah Carey and Wu Tang Klan without missing a beat. Authentically herself, Elijah felt guilty and wanted to tell her then. Tried to tell her. “Camille, I-.” She was unknowingly interrupting as she suddenly immediately, “You know Elijah, I’m happy I’m taking the chance to get to know you. You’re nothing like the men I’m used to having to be on guard with. In fact, I find, I can be myself in a way I felt I couldn’t be before. It’s nice.” She smiled so sweet it hurt, as she suddenly realized he’d been speaking, “Sorry were you saying something?” Shaking his head immediately, Elijah grabbed her hand and kissed it making her heart skip a beat. Elijah was sincere looking her in the eye as he promised, “I feel the same. You’re incredible Camille and I like getting to know you too.” She was warm, and he was too, but a chill was on his skin and was not the autumn air coming in. Instead, it was as nerves with the half-truths burning his tongue, Elijah couldn’t seem to find the balls to be honest. So, he kept up the most honest version of him that he could. Being attentive as he helped her into her coat, she thanked him making him grin, “Of course gorgeous.”
