I honestly shouldn't have been surprised when Clark showed up on my doorstep. I had avoided his calls and messages, but I had kept an eye on the notifications. Which meant I had known he was in town and wanted to see me. But what I hadn't expected was for Eva to answer the door and scream with joy.
"Sorry to just barge in like this," he said to me as he carried Eva right passed me into the kitchen. "Have you had breakfast yet, my little elephant?"
