“Any news about when Clark is coming back?” Karen asked loudly, and I looked away from her as I took a deep breath. “Sorry, is that a touchy subject?”
“Yes, Karen, it is,” I snapped as I glared over at her. Jessica and Tina had fallen quiet and that pissed me off. Why had they invited her to our lunch date?
“I’m just curious, is all,” Karen continued, as if I hadn’t just given her the evil eye. “I heard that Camden bought himself a home…and that Clark bought a house too…”
“Is it any of your business?” I asked as I continued to glare at her with enough distaste to make anyone squirm. Anyone but her. Karen merely smirked as she set her fork down.
“No, it isn’t any of my business, but this whole thing is just so…fishy,” she said as she made a point of looking at Tina’s tuna sandw
