❀ Clark ❀ As soon as we walked out of the house, I breathed in deeply. Eva was softly snoring in my ear, and I was impressed by how quickly she had fallen asleep. I was also surprised by how light she felt in my arms. The stars were out, but it was a beautiful night for a walk. Amy was silent beside me, not that either of us had anything to say. By the time we reached the house, I was trying to figure out a way to stay. “Would you like to stay for coffee?” Amy asked as she unlocked the front door. “Yeah, that sounds great,” I said honestly. Amy carefully took Eva from my arms, but the movement woke her up. Amy set her down, and Eva immediately made a beeline for the living room.
