Weeks turned into months and although it seemed like Lara was never coming back, I didn't give up on hope. She loved Riley... she would fight to come back to him... Dealing with the police officers didn't pan out the way we planned it either. They were head strong on the fact that Lara was on a drug bender, and she would return when she was out of money.
That's what they kept telling us, but we knew the truth. I started spending less and less time in the house I shared with my mother and Jasmin, and more time with my son... It's hard to explain to a child that you have no idea where his mum is. I would have tried to keep the truth away from him, but Lara's mom felt like telling him the truth was the best thing to do.
