_Katherine’s POV_ I slipped into my room as quietly as I could, shutting the door behind me. My hands trembled as I twisted the lock, securing myself inside. For a few moments, I leaned against the door, my chest rising and falling rapidly. My heart was still pounding, and I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins. That was close. Too close. Lucian had almost caught me. If that guard hadn’t knocked on his door at the last second, I would have been found. My blood pressure was still high, and I could feel my pulse racing in my throat.
