Ten - The Truth

"Well, hello there, come to join the fun?" The man's bloody mouth was formed in a sinister smile. He looked like someone that was ready to eat another meal. Her. Without any words, Alana turned and tried to run away, but before she could even take a step forward, she was grabbed and cruelly flung to the wall on the other side of the room. All the air was sent out of Alana's lungs as she hit the wall with force. She felt something c***k and knew it was her bone. She fell to the ground with a silent groan. "You can go now, Margaret. You've served your purpose. I have enough time for this new toy." She heard the man, the vampire say with such a sardonic tone that Alana knew she was in big trouble. She was going to die. In a dark room. She sighed as she thought about her brother. Ben, she whispered inwardly, praying for him to be fine. Too weak to call for help, she lied there and watched as he stalked slowly towards her. She was going to die. She was sure of it. "You really are a special thing, aren't you? The smell of the blood coursing through your veins, hmmmm.." He took in a deep breath and smiled. "It's unlike any I've ever tasted before. I'm going to have the time of my life when I suck every single drop out of you." "Please.. Don't kill me." Alana pleaded weakly. "Oh, I wish I could do that, my beautiful. But unfortunately, I'm a ripper. The real definition of a killer. See, when I come in front of a human, especially one with a unique blood, I can't control myself. You saved Margaret by showing up, she was already compelled by me, and I was going to kill her." "You can't do that. Please..." "Do you need a moment, dearie? What are your last words?" With every strength she could gather in her throat, Alana prepared herself to scream. "Help! Help me! Help-" In an instant, the man was in front of her. He grabbed her head and slammed it into the wall, making sparks go off in Alana's brain as the force of the blow hit her. She opened her eyes and tried to stop the blur and the trembling. With an evil laugh, the man pulled out his fangs and shifted her head into an awkward angle, preparing to sink it into her. A sharp, loud cry from the end of the room stopped them and the man wasn't fast enough to stop the blow that hit him, knocking him into the nearby pillar. She turned to see who her savior was. "Sebastian! Get Alana out of here now!" Lucious yelled angrily. As Sebastian picked Alana up, she turned to where Lucious was. She heard the sick sounds of bones crunching and a piercing scream that sounded full of immense pain. "Wait, Sebastian! Lu..Lucious might be injured! We.. We need to check him!" Alana complained, trying to get a look at him. She was so scared for him. He didn't know what that man was. He didn't know that the man was a scary vampire. "You touched her, bastard! I'll kill you!" Lucious exploded. Alana had never witnessed him in such a fit of rage. He must truly be powerful. "No! Lucious don't! Don't kill him!" Alana begged. She was still in Sebastian's arms but she managed to get his attention. She pulled herself out of Sebastian's embrace and made her way slowly and shakily towards him. "Lucious.." She whispered. He left the man who had went limp and unmoving on the ground and walked towards Alana. "You're injured. We have to get you a doctor immediately." he rasped, putting his hands on each sides of her arms to support her. "How.. How were you able to stop him?" She whispered. She felt her muscles weaken and rested into his waiting arms. Before she knew it, the blackness overcame her and she fell into unconsciousness. ****************** LUCIOUS WATCHED HER AS she slept soundly. She was finally relaxed and the temporary fever was broken. He shook his head in frustration as he studied her. Humans. Such feeble creatures. He couldn't stop imagining what would have happened to her had he not followed her scent and seen her when she was about to be killed. "Mr Heron, I'm going to go now, but if she wakes up with any new fevers or concussions, you just send a quick call and I'll be right on my way." The doctor said. He was a Vampire, but he was a doctor to humans. Jonathan Dale had dedicated his life to saving people, especially humans, after his parents had been killed by the national flu many, many years before. Since then, he had studied medicine and was now one of the biggest medical doctors in the world. "Thank you, Mr Dale. I will notify you." Lucious replied with a small smile on his face. "And don't forget to go through the prescriptions for the dosage of the drugs she will use." He warned him before walking out of his bedroom. Lucious turned to the young woman who was still fast asleep in his bed. He studied every detail of her face. The duvet covered her up to the neck so it was only her face that was visible. Her lips were dry and patched and she had a swell on her eyebrow. She looked pretty shaken up. He sighed, putting his head in his hands in frustration. He shouldn't have left her. He should have been there to protect her. Now she was knocked up badly because of him. "Hey," Lucious's head snapped up in alarm. He looked straight at Alana. She was awake. Finally. Her eyes were focused on him and her lips looked to be trying to form a smile. "Could.. I have.. Some water?" She asked slowly, her voice dry and patched. Lucious quickly shot up and picked up the water sitting on the table. He took it to her mouth and waited until she was able to put herself in a better position, then he placed the water on her lips and waited as she drank it before dropping it back. "How do you feel? Any pains?" Lucious asked. "My whole body is in pain, but... Nothing I can't handle. My head is banging though, very hard." She said in a broken whisper. Her voice was so soft that Lucious had to strain harder to hear her. "Take these pain relievers and you should be fine in a flash." He said as he handed her the drugs the doctor had prescribed to him. She took them gratefully and swallowed them all in one large gulp before giving him the cup again. He collected it and dropped it on the table, then turned to her. She was looking at him silently, as if she was waiting for him to say something. "I know you want an explanation for everything you saw today," he began. "Yes, Lucious." She whispered hastily. Lucious smiled amusingly. She probably had no idea how much of a turn on her voice was when it was this low. Back to the task ahead. She needed to know the whole truth. "First off, I'm very sorry, Alana, for not being able to protect you. When I saw you with Sebastian, I just lost my cool and lashed out at you in the worst way possible.." "Were you jealous?" "Well, yes I was! I knew that you were not in a good place with me because of the way I disappeared one month ago. I did that because.... I was trying to protect you." Julian said, his eyes looked so sad. "Protect me from what?" She demanded. "From something like this happening! You almost got killed by a vampire, Alana!" Julian shouted. Frustration and anger evident in his voice. "So... Vampires truly exist?" She asked in a small whisper. She really didn't want to know the answer to that. "Yes, Alana. There are Vampires. The good ones, and the bad ones. The one that attacked you that night was a Vampire demon. A rogue." He explained, watching her reaction carefully. She was staring at him with shock in her eyes, but she didn't react. "There are a lot of things you shouldn't know, Alana. For your own safety." He commented warily. "Is...is this why you're strong enough to stop them? What are you, Lucious? I want the truth, Lucious. The truth." She whispered in a shaky breath. Lucious could sense the fear in her expression. He knew what was about to happen but he couldn't stop it. Not when everything was already clear. "I think deep down, you know what I am, Alana." He muttered in a soft voice. He waited till she came to the realization. "You... You're also a vampire." She gasped. ****************
