I stayed longer with the kids than planned. It felt like we had been on a speeding roller coaster since Vilairus’s arrival, and his discovery had finally brought us to a temporary stop. All of the pups had begged to see Fifi, but luckily my mother-in-law was there to help distract them.
When I returned to the packhouse, I found my mates in our room but something felt off. I had mostly tuned them out all day so I could bask in the glow of tiny hugs and silly games.
