10 Because she was bored to death, the Firebirds let her help on Day Two. Nothing fancy, handing out water bottles, whatever. Better than sitting still. Day Three they stopped treating her like some fragile guest and treated her the same way they would anyone else on the team who had a bunged-up wrist. Krista and the rest of the Hoodies were pulled out on Day Four for a break. The fire was still running ugly, only ten percent contained, but that ten percent had been where the Hoodies had fought it to a standstill. Four days in had earned them twelve hours sack time before they’d be jumping back into a new sector.
