He could feel the distance, the arm's length she kept him at and it broke his heart.  It also made him angry.  It was becoming harder for Cole to keep his other side in check. He got angry one night and accidentally (and viciously) killed a gazelle running through the woods.  Cole was losing his damn mind, and he knew it was because he felt like he was losing Amaya.  When he was out options on who to turn to, he went to see Perenna and found the empath waiting for him. She pulled him into his home and immediately led him to her basement where the symbol on the floor immediately began
