"Come on, say it again. I'm a perfect devil. Tell me how bad I am. It makes me feel so good!" Lestat de Lioncourt, The Queen of The Damned
Amaya knew the moment every demon in the pit, the usually uncivilized waste of space and air, all bowed to her mate her decision had been made. Cole was the King of Valor and if she didn't go with him, she'd be left without him.
And she honestly didn't think anyone could handle her post-Cole Hunter.
When Amaya went to tell Sophia goodbye she walked into the shop to see the mother and daughter yelling at each other. "-it's not you really care so why does it matter!" Sophia wailed with a black eye.
Lucy sobbed tried to reach out to her daughter, "Sophia please, just tell me who did it and I'll handle it!" Sophia just grabbed her things and took the spiral stairs to the attic.
Lucy saw Amaya finally and broke down in tears. "Sorry," she muttered against Amaya's chest as the younger woman held her up, "No it's okay, what happened?"
Lucy stood up and admitted, "She's been coming home with bruises and telling me it's just roughhousing in gym. But now she comes home with a black eye and I know it's just those nasty little mortal girls picking on her."
Amaya sighed and sat Lucy down. Fixing them both something strong Amaya whispered, "So did you hear?" Lucy nodded, "Everyone has by now. You two are the most powerful witches and your hybrids, it tends to take notice when it's being said you two are now king and queen of both races."
Amaya nodded and cackled bitterly, "I would have never imagined me fit to rule a damn thing. But I know with Cole I can do whatever I set my mind too." Lucy grinned, "I'm happy for you, but I know that means you can't stay. And it's going to kill my daughter."
Looking to her friend Amaya whispered, "Well...I was thinking you two come with us." Lucy froze and looked at Amaya shocked, "Wait, what? Where?" Amaya grinned and told her friend about Valor. Lucy was unsure but Amaya looked at her and seriously said, "I sent Johnny away, but when I step into Valor he'll be back again. And then it's something for you and that sweet little girl will have to deal with. Alone. I can't leave knowing this."
Lucy faced Amaya and boldly asked, "Why do you care? I know your reputation Amaya even if I've never confronted you on it. What was so special about my daughter that made you want to be around her so much? To care about her?"
Amaya thought about that, "I don't know. Maybe it was her pure heart, at her age mines were already black and poisoned. But hers? It had so much light and love inside of it." Amaya grinned, "She sassed me the minute we met. I found her...amusing, and for some reason, she grabbed ahold of a heart only my mate believes me to have."
Lucy smiled as Amaya faced her with tears glistening in her eyes, "I've cared about her happiness as much as her survival in this world. And I know she will be happier in Valor as will you. Not only surrounded by more of our kind but also together."
Sniffling Lucy told Amaya she'd talk to Sophia about it.
When Amaya went to Cole's place he greeted her happily as Ambrose came out of the kitchen. He smiled and winked at her making her roll her eyes. She and Ambrose hadn't interacted much other than his playful flirty to make Cole annoyed with him on purpose.
Walking to her mate, Amaya curled up in his arms and whispered, "I hope you don't get mad, but I asked Lucy and Sophia to come with us to Valor."
Cole smiled and shook his head, "No I'm not, I know what they mean to you."
Amaya kissed Cole happily making Ambrose pretend to gag, "Come on guys, trying to enjoy my freaking grill cheese here. Can't do that with you to swapping bodily fluids in front of me."
Amaya giggled as Cole flipped his friend off.
On the night it was time for them to leave, Ambrose, of course, decided to come, as well as Lucy and Sophia.
"Um another dimension where there are other kids like me, and I get to be BFFs with the queen! Sign me up!" Sophia had eagerly told Amaya when they met at Cole's place.
Cole stepped forward and smiled at his mate before opening a portal. He stepped through and everyone followed him, the house seemed to shut itself down the moment Ambrose's feet left the floor.
When they got in the room in between, Amaya stroked Luna's head, her familiar as Cole put his palm to the glass of the other window.
They all climbed in again, and this time landed in the hallway of the castle.
Cole led them to two large double doors and pushed them open. Standing on a balcony overlooking Valor Ambrose and Lucy gasped in shock as Sophia stood gobsmacked. In the late afternoon sky, dragons flew high playing. Children were casting spells on the hills as the glistening water of the sea shinned too bright to look at.
"Welcome home." Turning Amaya smiled at Carlisle petting Cole's familiar, Obsidian. After introductions were made, they were all led to their rooms before dinner.
When Cole landed in the soft bed he groaned and faced his woman getting undressed. He watched her licking his lips and grinned when she turned to face him. "Are you just going to lay there gawking or are you going to freshen up?"
Cole hummed, "Well this bed is mighty comfortable and you look f*****g sexy in this angle...so yeah. I'm good right here."
Amaya giggled and walked into the bathroom prompting Cole to follow.
The infinity bathtub in the bathroom stretched until it made it to where a wall should be. But instead, the bathroom was left open, the infinity peering over the ledge of the dense forest right beside the castle. It's woodland fairies and millions of sparkly residue from their wings fluttering about. The breeze blowing in over their naked skin, the warm glow of the falling sun. When Amaya climbed into the water she leaned back watching the sun dip past the horizon from sight.
Baby dragons and pegasus flew past playing.
Cole walked into the bedroom sensing a presence and came back with two goblets and a plate of macaroons. "A little something to welcome the queen home," Cole told his mate as he approached her. Amaya grinned as she looked him over enticingly, "Too bad I'm not particularly wanting macaroons to welcome me. Won't my king join me?"
Cole's eyes darkened looking at his mate's succulent body.
"He'd love too."
