KENNEDY "I'M SORRY, Mr. Beaufort. I think there has been a mistake. This piece is not up for sale," I told him, trying my best to stay calm in front of him even though I felt like my heart was going to burst at any moment. "Is that so?" he said. It seems like it doesn't bother him at all. "But I already paid for it. What shall we do then?" he added. I stood there, frozen, as I tried to speak. My mouth hung open, but no sound came out. It was as if my voice had deserted me, leaving me alone and powerless. I swallowed hard, feeling a lump form in my throat. This wasn't supposed to happen. I had rehearsed what I was going to say over and over again, but now that the moment was here, I couldn't seem to find my voice. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.
