Chapter 2

Pearl's POV

"Am I missing something here?" Nova asks me as she looks at me.

I clear my throat, "I don't know. Maybe not"

"Then why did you scream at me saying you want to talk about something?" Nova asks.

"Did you?" The green eyed man asks.

"Did I ?" I find myself asking and he just smirks wider.

Argh! This is harder than I thought. He just looks at me with a stupid smirk on his face that I want to wipe away. And I just stare at him wondering when he will leave so I can continue the conversation with his sister.

But to my surprise, this guy doesn't even budge a little. Now this is really getting on my nerves you see.

"Nova I really want to talk to you in private" I say.

"It's fine. He is just my brother. He wouldn't even understand half about whatever we walk to talk right now" Nova shrugs.

"Ahuh! Not just your brother but also her-"

"Okay. Before her, maybe I should talk to you about something. I'm sorry Nova, but he was holding Vincent earlier and there is something I need to talk about that!" I say and just glare at him before walking away just a little.

I see him smirk once. And Nova starts talking about something but he just shrugs and dismisses her before walking to where I am standing.

There is a whole party happening over there. A party on my account and I am not even enjoying. Way to go! Happy Beta title day, Pearl!

"Hello Pea" he says as soon as he stands before me.

"For the record, my name is Pearl. I know I cut Shane off when he said half my name but, whatever" I say and he is still smiling.

"Pearl. Now that's a very nice name but you see, Pea is good if you ask me. Like you know sweet pea" he shrugs and I roll my eyes.

"But I don't like it" I say.

"Chill! I wasn't asking your opinion anyway" he chuckles and I really want to smack his face right now.

"Okay. I would like it if you don't tell anyone that we are mates" I say and he smirks again.

"So now why are you smirking again?" I ask him.

"I thought you were about to tell Nova about us. Now what made you change your mind? Am I intimidating you sweet pea?" He asks.

"Oh! You and intimidating? Try that line where it actually works" I laugh but to be honest, this guy is actually intimidating.

As if I am ready to tell him about that! We both just stare at each other. And his green eyes are sparkling as he is looking at me. I would like to think that it is his matebond working faster than mine.

In my case, both the matebond and my heart are like .. you know what? This bitch falls in love way too soon and gets her heart broken even sooner.

"So, why should we keep this a secret?" He asks me.

"Okay. Why don't we think of it this way? I am a mother. I mean, I have a kid. Over there" I show him my son who is playing with Ryan and Nova.

"Also, I am a Beta here. And you are an Alpha of another pack. You see how many red flags we have right here?" I ask him and he nods.

See. He gets it. At this rate it's not much time before he realises what he is getting himself into.

"I can understand. You are an Alpha. Not just to any pack. But the Alpha of The Silver Salt Pack. The strongest pack in the whole werewolf world. But I don't think it would be nice to introduce your mate who is already a mother and has a designation in another pack" I shrug.

"Your Alpha image can face some real damage" I say and he nods.

Wow. He is understanding way faster than I thought.

"So why are you not sad about it?" Mist asks.

"Shut up and let me concentrate, okay? I am indeed sad about it" I say.

"Hahaaa! See that's what I know" Mist laughs and I recall what we talked about block her.

She is contaminating my whole mind. Of course I am not sad. Wait am I sad? I cannot be sad. Okay. What did I even tell Mist? Am I sad or not sad?

I can hear Mist still laughing and I roll my eyes at her too.

"You know you do that a lot" he says and I finally give him my attention because we are about to forget that we are mates anyway.

"Do what?" I ask him.

"Roll your eyes. Alright, your Hazel eyes are so beautiful and you are just showing off. But damn, that's too much" he says.

"Okay. Do you usually talk a lot?" I ask him.

"That, you can ask my sister and know about it. Moreover it's kind of romantic don't you think? You asking my family about me and knowing more. They secretly thinking you like me and all. Wow" he says.

And why is my mind literally showing me images of me asking Nova about him and her getting all excited as she tells about her brother. Do all your minds work this way too? If not, I have the matebond to blame for anyway.

"You thinking about it,eh?" He smirks and I also hate the fact that he is right.

"Can we please get back to the issue we are talking about here?" I ask and he stares at me now.

Now that he is not talking, I focus on his features. Since we are pretty much just staring at each other. His eyes are green. His hair is black and his scent is pine mixed with sandalwood. The most amazing scent I ever came across.

Or, maybe because he is my mate and our scents are bound to be intoxicating for each other. Sometimes, I wonder just how the whole matebond thing works. Starting from scents to heat everything is bound together. Where two parties have to suffer. And why the heck am I mentioning as parties anyways? I am hanging out with Ryan more and it shows.

"Are we done with the stare contest? I am hungry" he says and I nod.

"Yes. As long as we don't tell anyone that we are mates to each other then it's all fine and you can go have your dinner" I say but he is still standing there.

"Okay now what?" I ask him.

"You are not going to ask my name at least?" He asks.

"How about this? Since you are not going to stop calling me as pea instead of my name, how about me calling you Forest fairy?" I ask him and there he goes smirking again.

"Forest fairy?" I nod.

The first thing that came into my mind looking at his eyes is this name. I did not really come up with this. It just came out just like that.

"Because of my eyes?" He asks and I shrug.

"Mom!!!!" Vincent screams before running towards me and I see Ryan and Nova clapping as they see him run to me.

I kneel on the ground and take him into my arms once he is close to me. I kiss both his cheeks and he already wants to get down from my arms.

I absolutely love acts of affection and my son here hates it.

"Ryan pinch me" he says and I look at Ryan who is already running away.

Ryan absolutely loves this so called game he invented. He likes to pinch Vincent and run away. And when Vincent gets closer to Edward, he just blames Edward for being cooler than him and he tries pinching Vincent again. Sometimes I wonder who the kid is. Vincent or Ryan.

"Novaaaaaaaaa" Vincent screams as he runs to Nova.

Nova cannot run since she is six weeks away from delivering her child, so she shows Vincent the direction Ryan ran to and Vincent starts running in the same direction. Ryan pretends to hide but in reality, he is just hiding behind a light pole that probably wouldn't even cover Vincent and he is just a kid!

When Vincent finally catches Ryan, he fakes surprise and throws Vincent over his shoulder. Vincent punches Ryan here and there but they are just jumping and playing.

I laugh and not just me, even Forest Fairy seems to be enjoying too. He is laughing looking at Ryan.

"You seem to love your kid" he says.

"Which mother doesn't love her kid?" I ask but realise maybe mine.

"Not everyone" he whispers so low but I caught that. And I wonder what his mother does that he feels this way. But I don't want to know his personal life now at this moment.

"Anyways, are we cool?" He asks and I nod.

"Like I said, as long as you don't tell anyone that we both are mates. Then everything is cool" I say.

"Fine. At least let's eat. I don't know much about this pack. Tell me the delicacies and something I should stay away. I'm allergic to peanuts by the way" he says.

"Allergic to peanuts? So you cannot eat peanut butter? I pity you" I say and we both walk towards the food table.

I take a plate and look at everything on the menu today. Everything is my favourite and I smile at that. I serve him some side salad. A piece of steak. Hamburger and french fries. Other has peanuts and sauce based on it.

He smiles and thanks me. And I see Nova finally catch up to us.

"Telling you one last time. We are cool only if you don't tell anyone that we are mates" I say and he nods eating a French fry.

"Hey! What were you guys talking about anyways? Seemed pretty intense" Nova says.

"Ah that? Baby sister, there is a thing called mates and we both seem to be that to each other" he is smiling wide as he says that.

What the heck!!
