The alcohol knocks me right out. In order to fall asleep without Seth next to me I might have to become an alcoholic. Before Seth came along it didn't matter how much time Jeremy and I spent away from each other because he knew I would always be there when he got back and I knew he would always come back. The trust we had in each other was equal in caliber. He made me feel safe. I am lulled into a dream. It takes place early in the morning. I am back in Wolphville in my bedroom where sunrise is always visible from the window. Tentacles of sunlight writhe up into the silvery-blue air from the sea of residential neighborhood below. I sigh. The room is still faintly dark. I reach for the clock on my bedside table to check the time but all I see is 00:00 flashing. I put it back and roll over.
