I feel like I'm alone for hours even though it's probably twenty minutes, maybe thirty at most. The wind stops howling at some point, leaving me in silence. I stare at the ceiling with my hands laced over my stomach, tapping to the rhythm of my heartbeat. The descent strikes much harder than the ascent. Jeremy returns to mind.
