Nicole and I drink like fish. Somehow we managed to find more alcohol but I couldn't actually tell you where we found it...or where we put it back. I am starting to lose pieces of the night and while usually that's my cue to stop drinking, I ignore the cue tonight. I can't get drunk enough. I am not currently thinking of anything except for answers to the inebriated questions Nicole asks me.
"And—and so what happens when you get marked?" she asks. "Is it like how vampires bite people in the movies and they also become vampires?"
"Yes, except we don't turn into werewolves or get cravings for human blood," I laugh. "There's plenty of opinions on marking—some see it as a sexist historical practice that should be retired, while others see it as the canine version of marriage."
