Maddison's POV Jenna’s words hung in the air, bitter and lasting. Then the warm atmosphere of the bar, clinking glasses, and muffled boom of sound all lost themselves in a gentle murmur as Maddison tried to erase those words. But already the question had crept into her mind. They finished the remainder of the drinks in thoughtful silence, and their initial easy chatter was replaced by one of thoughtful silence on Maddison's part.
