1 | It’s Just A Little Crush

361 Words
My first day of Sophomore year and I’m late! What’s new? I’m always late, why is today any different? I’ll tell you why, because today I’m supposed to ride with my uncle’s friend and introduce him to everyone in school and let them know of his carpooling service, and I’m late. “Let’s go, Annie!”, my younger sister, Natalie, yells. “Give me five minutes!”. *beep bee bee beep beep, beep beep* I hear the honking sound of my uncle’s friend’s vehicle, sounds like a van, but not quite, it sounds lighter. A little bit annoyed, I brushed my long brown hair thoroughly once, giving myself a last look in the mirror, thinking, “that’s the best that it’s going to get”, and head out. I’m 15, turning 16 in a couple of months. I stand at 5’4” and a half. Yes, the half does make a difference. I’m too skinny, my body has yet to form curves. I have very pale skin, I’m very white so I get teased a lot about that, I have long brown hair, huge Bette Davis eyes, a medium sized mouth, and a nose that’s too big for my face, but it fits. I don’t think I’m pretty, though people say I am, but I know I’m not ugly. I’ve not grown into my body yet, and everything feels awkward. I’ve just started to notice boys, and I know some notice me too, but I’ve quickly grown tired of boys my age, they seem so petty and shallow. *beep bee bee beep beep, beep beep* The honking snaps me out of my reverie and I head out the door, seeing my sister’s super annoyed face. It’s only 7:30am, I’m not late. I jumped in the back seat of the van, my sister slams the door and I see 4 other kids riding with us. I looked at the driver, my uncle’s friend, and everything seems to have stopped for a minute as my heart skips a beat.
