The temperature dropped perceptibly the closer they got to the river. Dogs barked and children ran through the streets, calling their names as Mikhail circled the village. Ninsianna waved and greeted each child by name, nearly pulling him off balance. He touched down in a flurry of feathers a few feet from the front door. Before she could wriggle out of his grasp, he stepped towards the threshold. Ninsianna giggled as his wings got caught in the doorway, unable to fit both her, and his wings, through the narrow entrance. They squeezed through the door at an awkward angle, leaving a trail of feathers.
"My wife," he set her down.
"My husband," she stood on tiptoe to give him a kiss.
