The car speeds down the highway as the sun rises higher, casting golden light over the gray asphalt. I sit in the backseat, staring out the window, though I don’t really see the scenery passing by. My mind is stuck back in the dungeon, replaying the look on Sophie’s face as I shut that door. Her voice calling my name still echoes in my head, sharp and accusing.
