I wake up slowly, the room dimly lit by the setting sun filtering through the curtains. I can’t believe I fell asleep here. I only intended to sit with him for a while until he fell asleep, but I must’ve fallen asleep right with him. I guess I must’ve been more exhausted than I thought?
My body feels tired and heavy, but I feel a comforting warmth beside me. I turn my head to the side and see that Kieran is still fast asleep. His face looks peaceful despite everything he’s been through.
I shift over slowly and glance at the clock on the nightstand. The time reads close to dinner time, and I realize Kieran hasn’t eaten in a while. We’ve been asleep pretty much the entire day, and he needs to eat something so his body will heal faster.
