Every so often, she would glance up at me, her eyes darting away quickly as though she couldn’t bear to meet his gaze for too long. “I don’t have all day, Camilla,” I said, my voice sharper than I intended, impatience threading through my tone. Camilla straightened her back, a flicker of resolve crossing her face before she finally began to explain, the weight of her betrayal hanging heavy between us. “I... I’m sorry, Theodore,” she stammered, voice trembling.
