After I walked away, mom went to fawn over Ellene and her family and now it was my turn to tease my best friend.
“Someone is so happy to meet her Step Mother in law”, I teased as Ellene shyly chuckled at one of my mom’s comments.
“I will kick your ass, Andrew”, she replied through gritted teeth while trying to keep her smile in front of my mom. I could see from the far corner of my eye that I was getting on her nerves. She deserves it.
“You can accompany my lonely son, Ellene. I have no idea what to do with that boy”, my mother’s deceptive concerned voice floated through our ear pieces.
