I tore through Texas City like a lunatic, my hands shaking so bad on the wheel I could barely keep the car straight.
The emotions hit me in waves.
Bitterness, confusion, and this deep ache that clawed at my chest.
The sun was dipping low past six, its orange rays piercing the tinted windows, forcing me to squint against the glare bouncing off the dashboard.
Cars blurred by on the busy highway, horns blaring as I swerved lanes, the asphalt humming under the tires, the wind whistling through the vents.
My mind raced faster than the speedometer.
Henry’s words crashed over me like waves I couldn’t outrun.
