Chapter 19
Jamie pries the window open. “It’s hot in here,” he says, letting a breeze into his stuffy office. He goes to the sink and washes his hands again. I didn’t know this before, but Jamie suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder. He’s been battling this disorder all his life. He also has panic attacks.
The fact that the man treating my boyfriend suffers from OCD should worry me, but instead, it only makes me trust him even more. It explains Jamie’s compassion and patience with Alistair. And why Alistair trusts him so. Jamie is open, non-judgmental, and spends most of the sessions just listening. Barely intervening.
“Do you want a glass of water?” Jamie asks me, looking over his shoulder. “Or tea maybe?”
“No thanks.” I watch him. His movements are nervous. He’s clearly on edge
