Nicole Parker had always been in love with her husband Cameron ever since they were little kids but she had never once acted on her feelings for him because he was already madly in love with her older sister Lily but then one mistake at a Halloween party three years ago resulted in not just an unwanted pregnancy but also an unwanted marriage as well which changed both of their lives forever.

Marrying the love of your life should be a happy and exciting time for anyone but unfortunately for Nicole, it was the beginning of a long, lonely and torturous road for her.

In the court of public opinion, Cameron was declared innocent and had got away scot-free from what had happened that night, whilst Nicole was declared guilty and her punishment was being shunned and banished by both sides of the family.

Three years later and Cameron is now leading a happy and successful life away from his wife and child as a footballer in the UK, whereas in America, Nicole has lived a sad and lonely life as a single mother to their daughter and has only got a close circle of friends around her whom she truly trusts and considers her real family.

She had hoped that Cameron would one day come around and he'd want to be a real husband and father to her and Lola but now she's done, she's fed up, she's tired and she wants a divorce to free herself from this toxic hell that she was forced into.

Facing the future alone as a divorced mother of one, Nicole is fully prepared to let go of the past and move on with her life but what she wasn't prepared for was her husband and family's complete change in attitudes towards her after the divorce.

They were hoping to heal old wounds and reunite with her as one big happy family because they believe that she's still the same old naive and gullible little girl who would do anything for just a scrap of their love and attention but unfortunately for them, that little girl is long gone and now she's a woman who is determined to leave those who have hurt and ostracised her in the past where they belong.

With her future bright and clear, Nicole has vowed to never again look at life through rose-tinted glasses and promises to build a happy and peaceful life for herself and her daughter, all on her own but all of that changes when she crosses paths with badass biker Damian Donovan who is determined to make Nicole and Lola his.

Will Damian succeed? or will Cameron find a way to win his family back? and what will Nicole do when an old family secret rears it's ugly head and threatens her new life? will she stay strong or will she crumble?.

Chapter 1 - Divorce.
Nicole's P.O.V. Today is a day that I had hoped and prayed would never come because at one point I did love my husband more than anything or anyone but now that this day is here, I don't feel anything. I don't feel any pain, I don't feel any sadness and I certainly don't feel any desperation to wanna throw myself at my husband's feet and beg him to stop these proceedings which I know he's expecting me to do because he's been joking about it and making comments about me begging at his feet ever since he told me he wants a divorce several months ago. If anything, I feel happiness, elation and relief to finally be free of this terrible man and my chest and shoulders feel like I've had a huge weight lifted off them and now I can finally breathe free and clearly without any restrictions. "ALL RISE!!" The bailiff says and we all stand up. "The Honourable Judge James Astor is presiding" The Judge enters the room and I swear I felt a chill in the air when he did which isn't really surprising considering this man makes Judge Judy look like Betty White. We all then sit down when he tells us to and I couldn't help but notice the smug expressions on my ex's and our families faces and I knew that this was because this Judge is known for being like a great white shark when he's presiding over his courtroom. Judge Astor is also known for not favouring women in his courtroom, whether they're lawyers, litigants or witnesses and he certainly doesn't like women who are being divorced by their rich husbands, such as myself. Some can say he's bias and that he shouldn't be allowed to preside over cases such as this or any cases at all if he's not gonna be a fair judge to both genders but personally, I think he's just seen a lot of men being burned by gold-diggers who have screwed every last penny out of their ex-husbands during their divorce and he probably thinks that I'm gonna do the same thing. Well, he's in for a huge surprise because I don't want anything from my ex-husband and the only thing I do want from him, I've already got. "We're her for the case of Parker vs Parker...I see there's a pre-nuptial agreement in place, counsel is your client in agreement with this pre-nup or does she plan to fight it?" "My client agrees with and accepts the pre-nup, your honour" My lawyer Donald Wallace says and the judge looks at me shocked. "Does Mrs Parker plan to contest the divorce?" "No sir, she does not...she wants this divorce just as much as Mr Parker does and she'd like for it to be over and done with as soon as possible" Mr Wallace said earning a couple of scoffs from my husband's side of the room. "Well..." The Judge says before clearing his throat as he moves around in his seat, clearly shaken that I wasn't what he was expecting. "Mrs Parker may just get her wish if she doesn't plan to contest the divorce and isn't willing to fight the pre-nuptial agreement either, I guess the only other topic of discussion is that of Miss Lola Parker" The Judge said and my chest tightened at the mention of my three-year-old daughter. "Your Honour, Mr Parker would like to have full custody of his daughter and would also like to request supervised visitation for Mrs Parker to see her daughter every other weekend" WHAT?. You've got to be kidding me. I looked over at my ex-husband who was looking all smug and so were all of our family members as well but what they and also my two best friends and sister in laws who were currently cursing their little asses of behind me doesn't know is that my lawyer is a Megalodon compared to Judge Astor. He's one of if not the best lawyer in the entire country and he's never lost a case, so even though I initially felt dread at what my soon to be ex husband's lawyer had said, it really doesn't worry me that much because I know that my lawyer will eat all of their asses up and happily spit their bones out afterwards. "Your Honour, this is ridiculous, Mr Parker has only met his daughter once and has never spent any time with her, he wasn't even present at her birth, so what gives him the right to demand full custody of this child and request supervised visitation for the woman who has been there for this child every day since she was born?" "Exactly, take that jackass" My best friend Zoey mutters under her breath from behind me and I had to try my hardest to suppress a smile. Even though she's my husband's sister, she's been on my side ever since the beginning and I've been so grateful for her because without her and my other sister in law Sidney, I probably would have broken down years ago. "Is this true, Mr Parker?" "Uhm, well, I..I...I've got my reasons, your Honour" Oh, this should be good. "And what reasons are those, Mr Parker?" The Judge asks making Cameron nervous. "Well, you see, your honour...I'm a Premier League footballer and when my daughter Lola was born, I had just signed to play for a club in England and was given a three-year contract with them" "What's that got to do with anything, Mr Parker?" Judge Astor asks sounding annoyed. "Everything your honour because the day that I had officially signed with my team was the same day that Mrs Parker had given birth to our child" Cameron says proudly, not realising that he was burying himself with each word that he spoke. "Ok but what has that got to do with you not seeing your daughter? did your wife and child not move to England with you?" "No sir, they didn't but..." "Is this true, Mrs Parker?" The Judge cuts off Cameron and asks me in a softer tone which I wasn't expecting. "Yes sir, Mr Parker didn't want us to join him in England, he thought we'd be too much of a distraction for him, his words, not mine" I said causing murmurs in the courtroom which the Judge had to put an end to with his fancy gavel. "Can I also say something in regards to my daughter's birth, your honour?" "Sure" "Thank you" I say with a smile. "Mr Parker claims that on the day I gave birth to my daughter that he was in England so that he could sign a contract with his new club but I've got proof that not only is he lying about this but he's also lying about his whereabouts as well" I say and I could feel several sets of eyes burning into me but I didn't care. Cameron can divorce me all he wants, I could give a rat's ass about that but I'm a momma wolf at the end of the day when it comes to my Lola bunny and I will fight to the death for that little girl, even if it means that I have to fight her own father for her. "Pass me your proof, Mrs Parker...bailiff" The judge orders and I hand him the small file that I had prepared which I called a just in case file because I was hoping Cameron wouldn't be vicious and vindictive when it came to our child but he showed his ass here today and I'm gonna make sure everyone here including the media that he had invited sees it. The bailiff hands the file to the judge and he looks through it, his eyes narrowing in confusion as he looks through each piece of evidence in the folder. "Mrs Parker, can you explain what all of this is, please?" "Of course, your honour...they're all screenshots of text messages between Mr Parker and I were I made it very clear to him that my waters had broken and I was in labour with our child but each one of them were left unread until the last one where I had pleaded with him to not let me give birth alone and he finally texted me back hours later telling me to stop bothering him with my nonsense because he was busy celebrating his new signing with our families" I stopped to take a breath before continuing. "One of those people, your honour was his ex-girlfriend and my older sister Lily and as you can see from the screenshots I've taken from both Mr Parker and my sisters social media, as well as the social media of several of our family members, you can see that this shows that he was in fact out celebrating his new signing with our families like he had told me in his text message but you can also see that they've also very kindly and generously tagged not only the restaurant that they were dining in but also the state and country they were in as well which is Rapid City, South Dakota...now I'm not as educated in English cities as maybe you are, your honour but I don't think there's a single city in the United Kingdom with this name which further proves my case that Mr Parker was in the United States at the time of our child's birth, not the UK as he has claimed" I said and I couldn't help but smile when I heard Zoey and Sidney singing under their breaths behind me. "This girl is on fire, this girl is on fire" "Hmm" The Judge hums as he continues to thumb through the file. "Mr Parker, you do realise that lying under oath is a criminal offence which carries a serious penalty of either fines or imprisonment for up to seven years in the state of South Dakota, right?" The Judge asked Cameron whose ass dropped when he realised that he's been caught in a lie but that didn't stop him from continuing on with it. "But I'm not lying, your honour, I was really out of the country" "Well, according to this evidence, Mr Parker, you weren't out of the country and unless you can prove otherwise to me, I'm inclined to believe Mrs Parker here" Judge Astor says shocking everyone in the room. "Wait but how can I prove that I'm telling you the truth, your honour?" Cameron asks and I rolled my eyes at him. Pretty f*****g easily, dumbo. "It's simple, Mr Parker, if you've got proof of purchase for plane tickets, a flight itinerary, hotel receipts or proof of any scheduled appointments that you had with your employer who you were allegedly meeting with on the day in question then that can prove your case for you" The Judge says and Cameron starts to scramble as he looks through his phone. He then looked up with an ah-ha expression on his face as he handed his phone over to the bailiff who then handed it to the Judge. I briefly looked over at my husband who was smirking at me which I just ignored because I knew that whatever was on that phone was a bunch of bullshit. "Mrs Parker, when was your daughter Lola Elodie Parker born?" "She was born on the fourth of July 2021 at seven o'clock at night, your honour" I say and Cameron's smug smile dropped. "I see...Mr Parker, this evidence you've handed me shows that you and a Miss Lily Wright flew from Rapid City Regional airport to John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, England on the fourth of June 2021" Really?. Well, that answers one of the burning questions I've always wanted to know the answer to but my head and my heart wasn't ready to hear it at the time but now that I have, I just feel happy that I wasn't paranoid or crazy like I was gaslit into believing by our families. "Y..your h..honour, you've got it wrong, I..." "This is your evidence, Mr Parker...you gave it to me, do you want to retract it?" Cameron didn't answer at first but after some coaxing from daddy and his lawyer he quickly said yes. The courtroom then fell into a tense and uncomfortable silence before I spoke up and what I had asked the Judge caused shocked murmurs to spread among everyone behind us. "Your honour, is it ok if I can question Mr Parker on the stand?" "On what grounds, Mrs Parker?" The Judge asked as he narrowed his eyes at me. "I have some questions that I would like to ask him that our relevant in regards to our child and her primary care" I said and the courtroom once again fell into an uncomfortable silence as everyone waited with anticipation for the Judge's answer. I was nervous that he would say no, whereas everyone on the other side was afraid that he'd say yes. After an intense minute or so, the Judge sighed and gave us his answer. "Mr Parker, please approach the witness box and bailiff, can you swear him in, please?" An angry and annoyed Cameron looked over at me like he wanted to hit me as he stood up and stomped his way over to the witness box looking like a petulant child. As soon as he sat down, the bailiff swore him in and Cameron answered him through gritted teeth. "The floor is yours, Mrs Parker" "Thank you, your honour" I said as I stood up and ran my hands over my dress to smooth it out. I haven't got that many questions to ask Cameron because he's already proven he's a liar and he doesn't know his own daughter's birthday, so I just need enough to bury him and his chances of getting full custody of my little bunny even further. I don't know who it was that said knowledge is power but they were right and I was about to prove it. "Mr Parker, how well do you know your daughter?" I ask him and he scoffs. "What's to know? she's a three year old girl, Nico...I mean, Mrs Parker" He says the last part through gritted teeth. "Actually, there's a lot you can know about your own daughter, regardless of her age, for example, what's her favourite TV show?" "I don't know, Teletubbies?" Really?. I thought to myself as I narrowed my eyes at him. Do they even still show Teletubbies on television anymore?. "No, it's Gabby's Dollhouse, what's her favourite stuffed animal?" "A bear" "No, it's a pink personalised bunny rabbit which was given to her when she was just a baby by her great grandparents" I say and he mutters whatever under his breath whilst rolling his eyes but what he doesn't know is that this question had set him up perfectly to answer my next question but as you can expect, the i***t flopped it. "What's Lola's nickname?" "She hasn't got one" He said confidently and I shook my head as our families groaned amongst one another in the gallery. "Her nickname is Lola bunny and it was given to her by your father who said that her nose would twitch like a bunny rabbit's nose whenever she would sleep as a newborn baby" I explain to Cameron who looked over at his father before dropping his head in shame. "I've only got one more question left, your honour" I said as I looked at my soon-to-be ex-husband with a sad expression because I knew that he would also bomb this next question as well. "What's Lola allergic to, Mr Parker?" I ask Cameron who looks up at me with a confused expression. "I wasn't aware that she had any allergies" Of course you didn't. I thought to myself with a sigh. "Well, she does...she's allergic to nuts and cats" I say and Cameron's confusion quickly turns to guilt. We had fought really badly not too long back when he bought Lola a cat for her birthday and he was pissed with me when I had sent it back to him. He thought I was just being a petty, nasty b***h with him when, in reality, I was just protecting our child. "Nothing further, your honour" I said before walking back to my seat as Cameron was dismissed from the witness box. The room once again fell into silence as we awaited what was gonna happen next. "After reviewing all of the evidence and seeing that Mrs Parker has got no plans to contest the divorce or the pre-nuptial agreement, I see no reason not to grant the two parties this divorce" Oh thank god. I thought to myself as I let out a breath of relief. "As for the custody of Miss Lola Elodie Parker, I grant full custody to Mrs Nicole Parker who will be the child's primary parent, the child will continue to reside with the mother and if the parents can not come up with an agreement amongst each other for the father to see his child on a regular basis then we will meet again on a later date to make arrangements for you" The Judge said which pissed off Cameron and our families. "But your honour, I can't be a part-time dad, it's not feasible for me because I live in the UK now" "That's not my problem, Mr Parker, either you work out custody with your former wife or we'll meet here again on a later date, it's that simple...now, is that all?" The Judge asks us and I nod my head as Cameron hesitantly nods his and as mean as it sounds, I couldn't help but to smile at his pain. The bastard was planning on not only taking my child away from me but moving her halfway across the world as well so that I wouldn't see her again and I know this for a fact, thanks to his mom who had drunkenly called me one night several months ago. At the time, I thought she was full of s**t but now I know she wasn't and for once, I'm grateful for all of their mind games, manipulations and gaslighting because it made me paranoid and that paranoia is the reason why I was forced to prepare my little folder just in case they tried to take my little girl away from me. Cameron planned to separate us but failed in his quest, so he deserves whatever pain he's going through right now. "If that's all, then this case is closed and court is adjourned" The Judge says as he slams his gavel down and I relaxed in my seat. Thank god, that's over and done with. "Boom...now that's what you call a slam dunk, big brother" Zoey says and the girls chuckle as I smile. I don't care what you call it, I'm just glad it's finally over and I can move on with my life.
