I had seen glimpses of Nova’s flashback. I felt her heartache when Fergus took their child. I also felt her feelings for him, and I hated feeling jealous. I know she loves me, but I wonder if part of her still loved Fergus. He was the only one she had in her years of captivity, and I should not hold that against her. But my ego and wolf have a hard time getting past it.
“What are you thinking about?” Nova asks. Those big emerald-colored eyes look up at me as we return to the lounge where her family is.
I followed her outside to watch her while she cooled down. I stood back as she got a breath of fresh air. I wasn’t going to let her out of my sight after what her parents told me. “Nothing,” I say to her.
