Nova “Grammy?” I huff. “I thought you were dead.” The older woman hobbles towards me, and I see her face is badly disfigured. “I wish I were dead some days,” she states. “But I am very much not.” “Mom?” Nana shouts, and I turn down the hall to see my parents and grandparents. “Maureen,” Grammy utters. “My dearest Maureen,” she sobs and falls forward. Caspar manages to catch her before she hits the ground. “Mom,” Nana shouts. Caspar quickly carries her into the lounge and lays her on the couch.
