Family Chaos

Anna After shaking off the initial shock of meeting my would-be in-laws, I finally allowed myself to relax. The rest of the afternoon passed in an unexpected ease. Talking with them was effortless; they listened attentively, laughed at the right moments, and even teased gently, creating a warmth I hadn’t anticipated. A glance at the clock reminded me that I needed to head to my brother’s place, lest I be late. “I should go,” I said softly, noticing the brief shadow of disappointment cross their faces. “We’ll take you to the door, my love,” Leon replied, lifting me in his arms like a bride. Instead of protesting, I wrapped my arms around his neck and let him carry me. He brushed his nose against mine in a tender, familiar gesture, and I couldn’t help but smile. Jason matched our pace, walking beside us, and before I knew it, we had reached the door. Leon carefully set me down and cupped my face in his hands. He pressed a soft kiss to my lips, gentle and fleeting. Taking a step back, he released me. Almost immediately, Jason stepped forward, sliding his hand into my hair to pull me closer. He held me near for a moment, giving me a soft goodbye kiss of his own. “We’ll see each other tomorrow,” he said, and even the sound of his voice sent shivers of anticipation down my spine. Everything about my mates drew me in—the deep brown of their eyes, their strong, muscular presence, their perfectly sculpted features. They were imposing, yet in their embrace, I felt like I could disappear completely. Finally, Jason released me, and I moved toward my bicycle as if emerging from a trance. Arriving at my brother’s, the warmth of family immediately enveloped me. We sat around his dining table, the conversation inevitably drifting to babies. As expected, my brother and his partner were completely obsessed with their child, sharing every small detail about cribs, toys, and milestones. My parents were equally animated, thrilled to be first-time grandparents. They discussed the pros and cons of various baby gear, each opinion passionately defended. Half-listening, my mind wandered. My thoughts clung to two brown pairs of eyes, two faces, two bodies that had completely captured me. I hadn’t anticipated reacting so strongly to them—how quickly my heart raced at even the memory of their touch, the stolen kisses, the overwhelming closeness we had shared today. Lost in thought, I barely registered my mother’s voice. “Anna? Are you alright?” she asked, concern lacing her tone. “Yes, of course,” I said quickly, flushing slightly. “Sorry… what did you say?” "Matthew is back in town after his time abroad. He hasn’t found his mate yet, like you. I know you still have time to find a chosen one, but you might want to keep your eyes open." Her words, well-meaning as always, only made the color in my cheeks deepen. She had no idea I already had my mates. She tilted her head, frowning slightly. “Anna, are you sick? You’re so red.” “I… actually, I’ve found my mate. I spent the entire afternoon with them today.” The revelation sent the household into an excited chaos. Questions came fast and furious. “Oh Anna! That’s wonderful! Who is it? Do we know him? When will you introduce us?” my mother asked, her grin impossibly wide. “This is amazing, Muffin. You’ll see how incredible it is to have a mate. Nothing like what happened to Norah will happen to you, I’m sure,” my father said, calm as ever, though his eyes shone with pride. “Congratulations, sis! Who’s the lucky one?” my brother added, curiosity brimming in his voice. My head was spinning. “Well… I have twins as my mates. You’ll meet them soon,” I admitted, feeling the heat rise in my face again. Sofia’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “You lucky thing,” she whispered with a wink. I laughed at my brother’s expression, the confusion and surprise written across his face. “So, I’m not enough for you, dear mate?” he teased, a flicker of wolfish possessiveness in his gaze as Alex playfully mocked his own situation. Both of them laughed, lightening the tension. “Tell me about them. What are their names? Maybe we know them,” my mother prompted. “They’re Leon and Jason,” I said quietly, the words heavy and final, as if unwrapping a tightly kept secret. The room went silent for a moment, jaws collectively dropping. Even Alex paused his teasing. “Wait… Jason and Leon? As in Jason and Leon King? Our Alphas?” my brother blurted, eyes wide. I could only nod. “They’re good men. They’ll treat you well,” my father added, pride evident in his voice. “So, Anna… you’ll be Luna. My new boss,” Alex said with a playful wink, earning a round of laughter. “I’ll need a little time to get used to them,” I admitted, embarrassed. Everyone, except Sofia, nodded in understanding. “Why wouldn’t you accept your mates? I understand it’s intimidating to be paired with Alphas, but they’re still your perfect counterparts,” Sofia said, perplexed. Alex took her hands gently. “Sof, remember the story I told you? About the girl, Norah, who died at the hands of her mate?” Sofia nodded solemnly. “Norah was Anna’s best friend. She was there when it happened… she saw him hit her, even though he had marked her, the mate bond intact.” Sofia’s eyes widened in shock. “Oh Anna… I’m so sorry. I completely understand why you’re cautious. I would be too!” “Do they know about this? How are things between you?” Alex asked, his tone soft. “Yes. They understand my hesitation and have promised to give me all the time I need. Both have accepted me as their mate. I have chosen to try honestly, and we’ll see where it goes from there.” “They are really good men. I see them almost daily; it was a good choice of you to give them a chance. They’re fully in tune with their wolves, and apart from a few youthful mistakes, they’ve never harmed anyone. Their time as ladies’ men is long behind them,” Alex said, his final words making me flinch slightly. Sofia saw it and playfully hit his arm. “Sorry, Anna,” he muttered. “It’s fine. I already knew,” I said, forcing a smile. The rest of the evening passed in a blur of stories about Alex and my childhood, and discussions about the upcoming birth of his child. I drove home with my parents later that night. Once we arrived, my father pulled me aside. “Anna, I am so glad you’ve found your mates,” he said, his voice unusually tender. Since childhood, he’d called me Muffin. Tears shimmered in his eyes. What was going on? Before I could ask, he brushed his hand across my cheek and said softly, “You will be a wonderful Luna.” “Thank you, Dad,” I whispered, overwhelmed by emotion. “Goodnight, Muffin,” he said, smiling warmly. I walked upstairs to my room, heart still pounding from the day’s whirlwind. My thoughts drifted back to Leon and Jason, their eyes, their hands, the way they held me like I was the only thing that mattered. I was with them a couple of hours ago and already missed them so much. I didnt know how I would be without them the whole day tomorrow. As I thought about my mates and my day, dat thoughts crept into my mind. About Norah and her violent mate. Peter. How I hated this man. A sound got me out of my thoughts. My phone was ringing. An unknown Number. My Heart skipped a beat.
