Dessie? She was supposed to be dead… wasn’t she?
“Dessie?” I breathed, stumbling back like she might lunge forward and rip me apart. “You’re… alive?”
No. That couldn’t be. She died. I saw it.
I whipped around to Jace, who stood frozen while a strange look twisted his face.
Wait a damn second.
“You knew?” I snapped, my voice rising. “Jace, you knew she was alive this whole time?”
“No.. no. Calm down, Marsai,” he said, stepping closer with a maddeningly calm tone. “I just saw her this afternoon… on my way back from the mall. She told me everything.”
“Everything? Including the part where I almost got killed,hm?”
