The moment my name slipped from his lips, my entire body stiffened.
How did he know my name? And why did his face seem so damn familiar?
“Marsai? You’re awfully quiet.” Hana nudged me gently, her eyes twinkling with a knowing smile.
I blinked. “Oh, right.” My gaze then shifted to the man in front us. “Hi… Hana’s mate. It’s nice to finally meet you. She’s told me so much about you.” I forced a polite smile, hoping it didn’t look too strained.
He returned it effortlessly with a smile. “Oh,it’s Jace. And yeah, she’s told me a lot about you too. I mean, a lot. Thank you for looking out for her.”
Something in his tone softened me. The smile I had plastered on moments ago, fake and hesitant, melted into something real.
And just like that, I figured out where he’d heard my name.
