“Well, I can’t stay either!” Milo retorted, as if it was obvious.
There was utter silence as we just stared at each other. First, this man - who is supposed to be my mate - treats me like a piece of meat in front of the ranked members. Now, he wants me to leave my job behind and become what? His housewife? The Goddess must be playing tricks on me. This can’t possibly be the man who should understand me better than anyone else.
“You’re overreacting, hun,” my wolf called out to me. “You know I live for the Gamma position as much as you do, but this is how our society works. You can’t blame our mate for being…well, a man.”
“What am I supposed to do then, Bree? Just follow the stupid rule we’ve been working so hard to change?”
