When Jocelyn arrived home, Luke was in the living room watching TV. She didn’t say anything as she walked past him. Clearly, she was still pissed with him.
Luke followed her. He watched as she let Fluffer out of his cage. The rabbit stretched and hopped toward Luke, wiggling his fluffy tail in greeting.
Jocelyn watched Luke pet Fluffer with narrowed eyes. “He seems to really like you.”
“I might’ve been bribing him while you were at work.”
“So that’s where all of the apples have gone.”
Luke scratched Fluffer on his head; the rabbit’s eyes began to close in ecstasy. But soon enough, the rabbit returned to his first love and hopped into Jocelyn’s lap.
“Why did you get a rabbit? Most people get a dog or a cat,” said Luke, leaning against the doorframe.
