She was finally back home, Naledi thought as she stood at the doorway of her room, her suitcase at her feet. She stood there unable to move, staring. She took in her room, her eyes crawling over every piece of furniture with a critical eye. Her bed was still laid out in its white duvet and the ornaments she’d left on her dressing table were still as she’d left them. Nothing was changed. Her grandmother had kept everything the same. As if she had never left. But she did leave. And she wasn’t the same person. There was so much that happened to her that the pristine and meticulous clean room felt off.
