An emptiness, just like you feel when you get to the highest drop on a roller coaster—that's what I felt when Elizabeth told me that the little garment was her baby's. My eyes immediately went to her abdomen, and there was no curve yet, which led me to think that she must be recently pregnant.
A thousand images of her in my arms came back like flashes to my mind, and shortly after, thanks to her own words, she confirmed how long she was pregnant. I didn't have to do much math to know that our meeting had been two months. This was the reason why she came to my office. She was going to tell me. Of that, I was sure. I had no doubt that the baby in her belly was mine.
Emotions began to bubble in my chest. I felt like a child who had been given the best Christmas present.
