ALEX An emptiness, just like you feel when you get to the highest drop on a roller coaster—that's what I felt when Elizabeth told me that the little garment was her baby's. My eyes immediately went to her abdomen, and there was no curve yet, which led me to think that she must be recently pregnant. A thousand images of her in my arms came back like flashes to my mind, and shortly after, thanks to her own words, she confirmed how long she was pregnant.
