“Yeah, I heard you,” Rylee said as she sighed and rubbed the back of her neck.
“What do we do about Natalie?” Lanie asked, needing some advice.
“Is she still unconscious?” Rylee asked.
“No. She’s awake and screaming for Etta,” Lanie answered.
“Tranquilize her again, and have Dr. Alavarez do a pregnancy exam on her. Make sure she’s actually pregnant.”
“Why?”
“Because what if she’s not pregnant?” Rylee questioned. “Then she did all of that to Etta and her developing cub for no reason,” she explained. Lanie nodded her head. Rylee had a point. If it turned out that Natalie wasn’t actually pregnant from mating with Arlo, or, at least, what they knew, Ryker, then her greed to hoard food and water was all for nothing.
