“What do we do?” Rylee asked, her eyes set on the tigers inching closer and closer to them.
“You’re asking me?” Ryker shot back.
“I’m asking both of you!” Rylee snapped.
“Why are they not attacking?” Svetlana questioned.
“They’re studying us,” Ryker answered.
“Why?” Rylee asked.
“You tell us. What are they thinking?”
“I can’t read their minds. Something is blocking me,” Rylee grumbled in annoyance.
A low growl, like the shifting of tectonic plates, rumbled from the largest tiger’s chest. It wasn’t a sound of aggression, but of deep, resonant warning.
“Blocked how?” Svetlana asked, her voice as steady as ever. She took a half-step forward, positioning herself slightly in front of Rylee. “Is it a wall? Is it static?”
